    UN Investigators Suspect Govt Involvement In Crimes Against Humanity In Burundi

    United Nations investigators suspect strongly that crimes against humanity abound in Burundi.

    In their report, killings, torture and rape were detailed, showing been committed largely by government forces.

    Burundi's ambassador to the UN, however, has slated the report as part of an "international conspiracy" against the country.

    It would be recalled that violence erupted in Burundi in 2015 after President Pierre Nkurunziza decided to run for a third term.

    Since then, tens of thousands of people have been internally displaced or fled into neighbouring countries, the BBC reports.

    Mr Nkurunziza was re-elected in July 2015 in a poll that was boycotted by the opposition, the news site added.
